Feeling extra Pinoy today.

Happy 1 year KT...from the one Breathe-r who's been with ya the longest!
Now that's a dope picture of me in action.

Since I got out a little early from my last GMAT class...I decided to treat myself to some choice Filipino reads from the list of works I've been meaning to read.

Dogeaters by Jessica Hagedorn
(The multiple narratives keep me guessing but the different characters are starting to intertwine with eachother. A humorous but bleak observation of the confusion of traditional Philippine culture and the Pinoy's so-called obsession with the West. Kind of sad to say that some of the characters in this novel certainly illustrate quite a few people I know. It is definitely lighter than The Tesseract by Alex Garland, which focuses more on the seedy low-life of Manila.)
Dream Jungle by Jessica Hagedorn
America Is In the Heart by Carlos Bulosan

Still searching the shelves for...
Gangster of Love by Jessica Hagedorn
American Son by Brian Ascalon Roley
(All I hear is good things about this one...)
Eye of the Fish by Luis H. Francia

One of my dreams is to own one work by the artist Fernando Amorsolo. The first time I've seen his work was when I was a kid looking at my aunt's framed prints on the wall. Even better was two years ago when I actually got to visit the Ayala Museum in Makati which displayed many of the significant works of the Philippine masters.
