Re-prioritize.

Last week, Vince and I sat down at the 24-hour Starbucks near my mom's house in Edgewater. When we go there, we sit for hours at a time, pretty much shooting the shit and talking about whatever comes to mind. It was no different last week.

However, we sort of went with a purpose. We mapped out our individual goals for 2008.

I bought a reporter's pocket notebook. Sometimes I use it to write down a quote I saw on the subway. More often than not, I list what I want to buy after I've saved up enough to afford the item. There are also business ideas, scribbles and my list of '08 goals. Some of the main points...
  • Number one on the list: gotta take the GMAT again. I could be satisfied with my current score but after a year of fooling around I need to re-think that because I know my ass can do better.
  • M-status. That means I need to finally take the step towards getting my motorcycle permit. I mean, a bike is cheaper than upkeep for the Put-put.
  • Make the move. I kept talking about making a big move this year, but I sort of fell on my face with that. I've always wanted to make the step out of California, but these days, my mind changes every few hours. No matter how you cut it, I'm determined to, at the very least, step out of Elmhurst. (Watch me end up in Jackson Heights, 3 blocks away.)
  • Triathlon and dance. I made a pact to continue to go to the gym and eat much better than I have been. August 7th is the Central Park Tri. As for dancing, NYSC offers a hip-hop funk class right after work on Mondays.
  • Debt. Once the CC is paid off, I'mma cut that shit in half. Period!
It's a lot to do. But I've been meeting all my goals for the past 3 years, so I expect '08 to be no different. Here's to hoping.

i've been meaning to get me a little notebook too.
1. to write down ideas (whether for writing/business ventures/training ideas for clients)
2. shopping lists (like you have)
3. directions

but that whole goal thing is ace! i'm big on goal setting and actually writing them down, but to actually have your goals with you at all times, that's a whole'nother level. great idea.

gluck in 2008, homeboy.
