And it don't stop: my beautiful NYC summer continues.

The week I thought would never end passed me by in the blink of an eye. All week I ran the city volunteering for NAATF, watching Ill-Literacy perform in NYC all the way from the Bay Area, backing LJ as he showed friends from Chicago around our version of NYC nightlife, catching the 18 Mighty Mountain Warriors and then going to the Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival. I managed to fit work in there somewhere between all the madness.

Ill-Literacy: I'm no stranger to spoken word. In fact, I'd like to come back as either a starving journalist or an inspiring spoken-word activist in a future lifetime. Now I've heard their stuff before through the magic of the internet but this was the first time I've ever seen them live. In one breath, they captured attention, emotion and reaction by the sheer strength of their word. They are the truth and lucky for me, they'll be in the city for the next few days for more appearances.

Chicago meets NYC...meets the Bay: Man, everyone had friends from all over in town this past weekend and it culminated with the whole gaggle of people heading to LJ's favorite spot at Players and posting up at my usual spot at STAY Lounge. Not to mention all the grubbing of Filipino food at Dragonfly and chicken-n-rice from the guy on 53rd St. Good thing most of the guys are headed to Vegas this week, I'll finally be able to take a break from the "full social schedule" next weekend. It's not even Monday and I am already anticipating the nothing I will be doing next weekend.

BHF: Amazing day on the grass in DUMBO, Brooklyn. Some of the highlights were Kidz in the Hall, Emily King and Ghostface himself! All of this for $FREE.99!

And so that brings us to this week's schedule:

After catching their show last week, there is no way I'm missing this!
I came across some of this Seattle-based duo's tracks at the BHF and it's right up my alley! Bonus: 1/2 of the duo is reppin' for us Filipinos! So I will see about their album release at my old stomping grounds at FatBeats this week.
