I was one of the lucky few who was able to get a three day weekend in honor of Columbus Day. While being at home, I was able to gut my closet and re-organize a few things in the apartment. I've come to realize that there's a teeny chance I buy too much...stuff. You see, there's still the pre-collegiate collection of baggy jeans, Tommy sweaters, 2XL shirts and polos. Then there's the stuff I've acquired throughout the college years; Nike dunks in various colorways, ironic t-shirts, trucker hats, PDC performance wear...and then the post collegiate party gear, suits for work, business casual things. All of this put together is the reason why my closet gave way and imploded.
10 hoodies, 20 blazers, 3 full length wool coats, 4 parkas, 3 suits, and 1 tuxedo. And that's just what I bought within the past two years. Not to mention the clever t-shirts I buy almost every single week. It's a lot of crap. Theres also the collections of belts, wristbands, trucker hats, fedoras, baseball caps, sunglasses, scarves, gloves....I can open my own store with this inventory.
So I've come to the conclusion that I am going to donate a bulk of my belongings to charity. Since it's been a time of renewal for me, I'm going to do a good deed and let go of the excesses that I thought I "needed" at one time. But I'm keeping the golf clubs...can't mess with those.
